JVC HD-52G887 Review: 52” LCD HDTV

Up for Review: JVC HD-52G887 Rear Projection TV. Hoping to capture the HDTV market with the innovative rear projection D-ILA displays, JVC is all set to make the most of the 3 color chip technology. D-ILA which stands for Direct drive Image Light Amplifier, provides the best picture quality imaginable on the microdisplays. A review brings to the fore the integration of DIST, which is Digital Image Scaling Technology, with the latest CPU ( Genessa 32-bit image processing) for advanced sampling giving rise to reduction of blurring and removal of artifacts. Further, it can increase the resolution of any standard source.

The silver bezel of the JVC HD-52G887 attracts instant attention. It has ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuners which can stream both HD and SD signals from the air waves. All kinds of sources can be compatible with this HDTV. The presence of a digital Y/C comb filter is good for the image quality. All the noise is filtered out leaving the picture crystal clear. It distinguishes between the color and black-and-white images and intelligently removes dot crawl resulting in a perfectly natural image.

I have this sorry piece of CRAP !! JVC HD-52G887 …. I paid 3200.00 for it from Western Auto Store here locally . It took 3 TVs to get one that worked, I’ve owned it 3 years, and have bought 5 lamps for it !!! The lamps last about 6 months. JVC has said the TV is suppose to only be run about 12 hours a day, and it is very normal for anymore usage than this for them to burn out ! I buy the lamps at $ 225.00 from american superstore here. The only people that carry them here. JVC would not do anything for me after 3 months of owning it , and Western Auto went out of business ! I gave to much for it to junk it…. and already out over another 1000.00 for lamps !!
Don’t buy anything made by JVC and expect to get much use out of it !!
