Review of Vizio VP505XVT – 50-inch 1080p Plasma HDTVVizio VP505XVT

With the upcoming launch of Vizio group’s latest XVT models, the Vizio VP505XVT will make sure your HDTV viewing experience will never be same again. Vizio VP505XVT promises to offer more features and extended performance at breakthrough prices. This Plasma HDTV provides full 1080p and HQV processing and has the highest value with the latest advancements in video display technology. The distinctive and sleek industrial design is highlighted by lean, piano black bezels.

To maximize the home theater experience, this model has advanced audio and video processing capabilities adorned inside the television itself. The audio feature is powered by built-in TruSurround XT processing engine which decodes 5.1 audio and will output the sound through the television’s speakers. Silicon Optix REON HQV processor is one of the best video processing chips available with 30,000:1 Contrast Ratio, 1200 nits brightness. So you will finally get decent sounds straight from the television, a surround sound isn’t quite as necessary (but still fun). Priced at $1699.99 and loaded with so many advanced features, it’s arguably one of the best bargain on a 50 inch Plasma HDTV.

I have puchased several Vizio TVs and I am happy with all of them. Maybe you just got the bad apple out of the bunch and that some times happens.

  3. Jim's reviewOctober 15, 2008

  4. Paul's reviewOctober 27, 2008

  5. John's reviewNovember 06, 2008

After 2 years , very loud pop sound, picture is now red and black, sometimes white vertical lines, I still have sound. Nearly $800.00 later in repair cost, not impressed with the Vizio at all. Don’t waste the money getting it fixed, buy a new non-plasma tv.

  6. Favrehatr's reviewNovember 14, 2008

I have been so happy with my Vizio SV420XVT and its performance that I’m thinking about getting the SV505XVT for myself for Christmas :) . Just a heads up though – called Vizio with some questions and they said that the SRS TruSurround was actually HD not XT like the 42/47″, so that definietly makes me interested!

  7. jessy's reviewMarch 07, 2009

vizio has great quality all the way around

  8. Barb Stanley's reviewMay 31, 2009

We purchased a VIZIO from Costco Feb. 15, 2009. 98 days into the experience, it kept shutting itself off by itself. It finally would not show a picture nor turn on. As much as we liked the picture when it worked, our experience in customer service is awful. They needed a fax for proof of purchase. 48 hours later they were to return a call to us and they did not. We pursued it and called them. We were told they have to forward the information to a VIZIO person, and that there was NO local service place to take it or have them call on it. ( We live in metropolitin Phoenix for crying out loud!!) Now we wait for someone to call us – - and it is day 10. No TV for 10 days and no service. All we got was the run around and we are going to try to return it to COSTCO today. I will NEVER buy VIzio anything again. Their customer service sucks.

  9. Danny Hembree's reviewJuly 13, 2009

I purchased a VIZIO 32 inch plasma on June the 10th of 2008. On June the 30th of 2009 the screen went black and the set does have sound. I called VIZIO and was told that the unit was out of warranty and they could do nothing. I just replaced it with a Sylvania 32 inch LCD.

our 2 year old Sanyo 50 in won`t turn on anymore. Looked around the web for answers and found out its VERY commom with Sanyo plasma`s at around the 2 year mark. Sanyo says….so sorry! have a nice day!

  11. warren's reviewApril 20, 2010

I have a 50″ and it sucks. Really really sucks!! From day one it would shut off and the color was off. I had some problems with customer service trying to avoid the obvious. Finally I had someone come out after about a month passing the buck, low and behold a problem was found in the mother board. Now it shuts off by itself and the picture flickers. The shut off went away for a bit but now its back. Looking foward to the stellar customer service to fix this next set of problems

  12. BARRY SLATER's reviewSeptember 15, 2010

  13. WILL BOULDEN's reviewNovember 26, 2010

Vizio was great until it needed repairs, now after over a month of waiting for parts in the shop I still have no big screen HDTV. Repair shop told me they do not have good after the sale service,DUH! With the prices coming down everyday I’ll never buy another Vizio. I only bought it because it was supposed to be “made in america” yet as with most ,parts are made in china and there’s no delivery date. Vizio should be up front and explain it’s a crap shoot as to whether the TV you buy will last..And maybe they should explain no after the sale service!

  14. Don's reviewJanuary 13, 2011

Bought a Vizio 50″ in 08 and was doing fine, great picture until I heard a loud pop.The picture and sound went out,now I can’t get anybody to come out and look at it because I didn’t buy it there,it’s to big to take in to the shop,I guess I’m stuck.

  15. marilyn's reviewFebruary 18, 2011

I was given a Vizio 50″ for Christmas ’08 which was manufactured may ’08, just went completely dead a month ago. When I contacted Vizio was told I should have bought extended warranty and pretty much ‘sorry about your luck’. What are they selling-TV’s or extended warranty?? Not sure which direction to take now.
