Panasonic TC-P54G10 Review: 54” Plasma HDTV

Up for review: Panasonic TC-P54G10 Plasma TV.  Panasonic is trying to establish a stronghold over the Plasma market by introducing the TC-P54G10. It follows the Z1 and the V10 series from Panasonic. A review says that the main feature which distinguishes the TC-P54G10 from the other series is its thicker cabinet design. The basic features are almost the same. The notable feature which will set it apart from the rest is the “Infinite Black” level. The second remarkable feature is the 600 Hz Sub-field drive which will give a fresh impetus to video processing.

The front panel is the trademarked Panasonic design with a glossy black bezel and a grey strip at the bottom holding the power button. The left side of the TC-P54G10 has some of the ports, and the right side, a few of the customary controls. The ports include the component cables, the HDMI port, a PC input and an SD card slot. The volume, channel, menu and input buttons make up the on-TV controls. You have the option of mounting the TC-P54G10 on the wall or placing it on a swivel stand.

The TC-P54G10 displays a resolution of 1080p and an aspect ratio of 16:9. It also has a high contrast ratio of 40,000:1. These settings are yet to be tested to be sure of their values. This TV is not concerned with refresh rate as it is a Plasma TV, but the rest of the features pertaining to picture quality are good. There is smooth motion and no blurring. Judder is also absent.

Panasonic TC-P54G10 Features and Specifications Review:

  • 54” screen
  • Neo PDP
  • 1080p resolution
  • VIERA Cast™
  • VIERA Link™
  • THX® certified display
  • VIERA Image Viewer™ with AVCHD playback
  • 600 Hz sub-field drive
  • Game mode
  • 3 HDMI inputs
  • 40,000:1 native contrast ratio
  • Infinite black panel

A review shows that viewing angles for the TC-P54G10 are good. You can get the same picture quality at almost every angle. There is some amount of darkening at the 90 degree angle but even that is very slight. However, there is a shadow of the light colored objects on the dark background. This is perhaps, the only disturbing element in the HDTV. As far as color is concerned, it is quite good all over and at all viewing angles. There is a very slight discrepancy towards the edges.

Connectivity is pretty good in the TC-P54G10. There are ports at the side and back. The back side includes a LAN port. The main feature of the TC-P54G10 is the VIERA Image Viewer. It enables the display of stills and videos from the SD card slot. Internet connectivity has been included in the HDTV and you can also get to see Amazon Video and On Demand through tie-ups.

There are two speakers on the TC-P54G10, located at both sides of the screen. Not much information is available about the audio. The pricing is also not public. But the TC-P54G10 sure promises to be a good HDTV to keep in the house.

HDTVUniverse.com gives Panasonic TC-P54G10 8/10 stars!
