Originally Reviewed on July 3rd, 2010Panasonic TC-P50G25 Review: 50” Plasma HDTV
Up for Review: Panasonic TC-P50G25 Plasma TV. It is but natural that technology gets better with time. And in trying to live up to the latest technology trends, Panasonic makes headway with its Plasma line by introducing the 3D and the Viera features. However, this G25 series loses out on the 3D technology but still has the rest of the innovative features to boast of. The NeoPDP panel is one of the main highlights of this series which provides the ability to give better pictures with even deeper blacks. And if you are surprised with the difference in picture quality in the Plasma and LCD TVs, you have 600 Hz sub field drive to thank. It allows 1080p resolution to both eyes which accounts for crystal clear images.
You must already be acquainted with Viera Cast features in the models released last year. This year, there is the Ethernet port using which you can stream content from Netflix, YouTube, Amazon VOD, Twitter Bloomberg News service and Skype video calling services. Panasonic is trying to integrate more and more sites with the TV. The Viera Link will help you to connect and control all the entertainment devices connected to the TV so that you are not confused with the clutter and can easily access all of them when you want. With the Viera Image viewer, you can just use the SD memory card and watch your favorite digital photos on the big screen.

The G25 series has been integrated with a new anti-glare technology which is a boon for the eyes. There is no unnecessary reflection from the light source in the room. In fact, if you compare the panels of the previous and current years, you will surely be happy with advances made in this direction. It seems as if the plasma TVs are not only content with their own strengths but they also want to make the strengths of the LCD TVs their own. While maintaining higher black levels, better viewing angles and frame rates, it is also trying to impress consumers with brighter panels with lower glare.
The Panasonic TC-P58S2 is also energy efficient. This model is 40% more efficient than the stated requirements in the Energy Star 4.0. The technology used in the TV is responsible for this. The NeoPDP panels have a great part to play in this. The power supply has been restricted which helps you to save a lot even if the TV keeps running for hours at a stretch. It also keeps your electricity bills low. However, the Plasma TVs do have a long way to go to reach the efficiency levels provided by LCD TVs. But it is certainly quite heartening to see improvements in almost all fields by the Plasma TVs. They are sure to make a good addition to your house.
HDTVUniverse.com gives Panasonic TC-P58S2 4/5 stars!
