Panasonic TC-P42UT50 Review: 42” Plasma HDTV
Up for Review: Panasonic TC-P42UT50 Plasma HDTV. It is one of the rare models that comes with a 42-inch plasma screen, but supports the active 3D technology. However, the model lacks some of the features offered by other high-end plasma TV sets available in the market. Along with reduced contrast ratio and black levels, the model also offers a lower number of input port and terminals. Also, you have to buy additional Wi-Fi dongle to access internet on your TV screen. The model allows your family members to watch their favorite television programs without occupying a large space.
You can even consider the model for your small sized apartment or kids’ room. Your family members can watch their favorite digital content based on their individual interests and likings. The active 3D technology support and 2D to 3D up-conversion option will make the model popular among the younger members of your family. They will love to watch their favorite 3D movies and play 3D games on the TV screen. At the same time, the 1080p HD resolution offered by the model will also compliment the watching off normal movies and television programs like news, weather, family dramas and chat shows.
As most of the latest movies and television programs are made in HD, your family members can watch a wide variety of traditional as well as latest digital content. But the model lacks the higher refresh rate and Infinite Black Pro plasma panel included in the design of high-end models launched by the manufacturer. The 120 Hz refresh is effective in removing motion blurs when you watch the faster moving sports and action scenes, but the rate is not high enough to suit the requirements of latest movies and video games. Also, the model offers much better side angle viewing and strong dark shadow details to add more depth to different scenes.
Panasonic TC-P42UT50 Features and Specifications Review:
120 Hz Refresh Rate
Active 3D Compatible
2D to 3D Conversion
2 HDMI and 2 USB Ports
Cloud-based Viera Connect Internet Suite
Panasonic has further tried to make the TV set usable for multiple purposes by included a set of input and internet access options. The model comes with a web browser and Viera Connect internet suite integration, but it is not designed with built in Wi-Fi. You have to buy an additional Wi-Fi dongle to access internet on the TV screen without using any wires and cables. Along with browsing websites on your TV screen, you also get the options to stream online music, movies, videos and photos from popular online networks like Netflix, Hulu, YouTube and Pandora. However, you will miss the social media connectivity options offered by the higher end models.
In addition to the online digital content, the model also allows you to access your offline collection of digital content. But the number of HDMI and USB ports attached with the TV set is much lower than the input options offered by similar models available in the market. You can access the content stored on the CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs by connecting a Blu-ray or DVD player to the TV set. Also, you can explore the options to connect the model with your digital camera, camcorder ad gaming consoles. On the whole, the model can be placed in your main living room or in some other parts of your home like bedroom, study and dining space.
