Panasonic TC-P42G25 Review – 42-inch Plasma HDTV
Originally Reviewed on July 5th, 2010Panasonic TC-P42G25 Review: 42” Plasma HDTV
Up for Review: Panasonic TC-P42G25 Plasma TV. The models introduced this year by Panasonic have much more improved technology than 2009. This 42-inch TV from the G25 series is packed with features with the exception of the 3D technology. It sports a NeoPDP panel that gives brighter pictures but also conserves power. The images have the best balance of color and brightness while also getting rid of the reflections from the light source in the room. The previous panels had a great problem with reflections and glares which were very discomforting for the eyes. But thankfully, that problem has been addressed this time and you can get bright pictures with 1080p resolution.
Along with the 1080p resolution, Panasonic has integrated the 600 Hz Sub-field Drive in this series which makes the images on the TV look completely natural and life like. There is absolutely no blurring in the pictures and so the action scenes are really a pleasure for the eyes. This is one big difference between the recently launched LCD TVs and this Plasma TV. While you get only 800 lines of resolution in the LCD TVs, a full range of 1080p resolution is available on this Plasma TV. This of course makes the pictures look much better with improved sharpness and clarity.
Panasonic TC-P42G25 Features and Specifications Review:
- 42-inch HDTV
- 1080p resolution
- Infinite Black display with 5,000,000:1 native contrast ratio
- VIERA CAST
- Video call capability

Panasonic has also improved its Viera functionality from 2009. This year, the Viera Cast technology allows you to view contents from select Internet sites like Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, Fox Sports and many more. You can also avail videoconferencing through Skype. All you need is a camera and Wi-Fi capabilities. With the help of the SD memory cards, you can also view the photos from the digital cameras on the TV. The Viera Link Feature gives you the chance to link all the devices connected to the TV and control them with a single remote. This is really a good feature as it lessens the mess of remotes on your lap.
Panasonic is in the front seat as far as energy conservation is concerned. It has introduced many features in the TV which consume less energy. One among them is the NeoPDP panel. It uses much less energy and yet does not compromise on the brightness of the screen. This model uses much less power than laid down in the Energy Star 4.0 standards. It will also please you to know that the life of the TV is almost 30 years if you watch the TV for 8 hours a day. This model is a good one to keep at home and if you fancy a TV with 3D features for your living room, you can also use this model as a second option in the office or dorm.
HDTVUniverse.com gives Panasonic TC-P42G25 4/5 stars!

Too bad my 2008 model developed a defective display after the one year warranty ran out and it will cost more to repair then to buy a new one. You would think they would stand behind their product a little better. Will never buy another Panasonic.
