LG 42PJ350 Review: 42” Plasma HDTV

Up for Review: LG 42PJ350 Plasma TV. You will never have expected LG to include 720p display resolution with a screen size of 42 inches. But with an eye on the consumer market with tighter purse strings, LG has taken the risk of releasing a 720p resolution this time. Of course, since the market does not only consist of people who want the entire high end TVs with the latest technology, it makes sense to spare some thought for the people who want a quality TV but for a lesser price. In fact, they are the ones who comprise a very good percentage of the total HDTV consumers.

In keeping with its reputation of presenting the most fashionable and stylish TVs, LG has also imparted the same good looks to this model. With a bezel almost passing into oblivion, it has maintained the sleek exterior which is common to most of the TVs released this year. A less than 1 inch bezel and 2 inch case makes this model looks great on both the stand and on the walls. The 42 inch display will complete the décor of your living room. Equipped with all the core LG technologies released this year, this model is sure to give you the best entertainment options.

LG 42PJ350 Features and Specifications Review:

  • Smallest in line
  • Slender frame
  • HD Ready
  • USB connection
  • Three HDMI inpus
  • Cheaper member of line
  • 42 inches
  • Plasma TV

With the rising need to conserve power, the HDTV manufacturers are trying to lure more customers based on their advanced techniques to keep a tight leash on the power consumption. LG too has included the Intelligent Sensor feature which automatically adapts the lighting of the TV according to the ambiance of the room. This is also sure to have a soothing effect on your eyes. You no longer have to tolerate high brightness and contrast even when you opt for a softer lighting in your room. The TV is intelligent enough to understand your requirements!

LG has gone in for the “Skin Glass” system in this model to afford protection for the panel. This feature will also be helpful in reducing the internal reflections because of the lessening in the distance from the filter to the outer glass by 70%. And like all plasma TVs, this model too has no motion lag with a 600 Hz Subfield drive. It will be a pleasure to watch the action movies and feel as if the scenes are being enacted right in front of your eyes. In fact, this is the perfect TV for you if you want a set with high quality pictures for a very low price.

I’m at home alot and wish to have the 42inch 42pj350 switched on at least 16 hours a day. What will the power bill be like?

  4. Steve's reviewJune 14, 2010

I have this model TV and I have to say that for the $720 I payed for it, It was well worth it. I use it in my theatre room and it’s great for movies. It also works well with my PS3. The only drawback is that there is no AV out so hooking up a surround sound system can be a bother and the Intelligent Sensor feature can be annoying when the brightness flicks from dark to light then back again in the span of a few seconds. All in all it is a great budget TV and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

my husband and i just purchased this model tv. so far so good. tv picture is wonderful and sound is great too. i actually recently had a vizio that actually went out and we were in the market of a better tv that would last us more than 2 years. i hope we made a great choice. i guess in time we will see. seeing that my lg phones that i have ever purchased has lasted me a good while and they worked perfect this was the reason we stuck with lg. so far i would recommend to anyone.

THE ONLY THING I FOUND THAT WAS A CON OF THIS TV IS THE BURNT IN IMAGING AND IT GETS HARDER TO GET RID OF EACH TIME

  7. Summers's reviewOctober 26, 2010

I felt when at Sear seeing the LG Panasonic and Samsung 42 inch plasma’s (720p) all side by side, the easiest one 2 let go was the Panasonic. It offers alot less inside and out compared with the others and it came down 2 Samsung & LG. The winner here was rather easy as well…LG. Less refections being as slim as some LEDs almost and being the slimest sexiest plasma on the market today! I was going 4 the Samsung plasma with all I read it seemed a lock! Yet this one just looks newer the specs R much better overall offering U more 2 play with. The sound is better without any loud buzzing noise. The blacks R darker and from what I hear LG don’t have the black fade issue! The colors, realism, detailed cripness favored the LG. Whites were brighter as the video was 2. when U watch anything on the LG U feel like your getting nothing but pure picture not having a thicker look around the screen! I felt the LG was really going head 2 head with the 1080p 600hz Panasonic plasma that was a few hundred more! The only difference is the 1080 was brighter but not by much. But talking 720p and being the new Plasma on the block this year with this new series of LG the “PJ” (thus U don’t see as many reviews like U do with the Sam/Pan). Thats all! Less reviews seeing its the end of the year and it’s a newer 42inch plasma. Early next year after the Holidays you’ll start seeing alot more on the 42pj350 by LG. This 42 inch takes 1st place in my book and like anything nothings going 2 B 100% perfect at this price range so U have 2 B realistic about this people. Just like when people complain about shadows and refections etc….why would U by a plasma and place it into a bright room 2 just complain about it in a review? Makes NO sense 2 me. Or the other when someone’s saying the picture quality ain’t that great or sucks but they don’t use HDMI connections nor have Cable/Dish…..but they want 2 write a review regarding a product or how something works??? U kidding me? And U think your offering people….what help? Wow…all of U stop confussing folks who want 2 hear (FACTS) or a (Solid Take or Opinion) regarding a product not your lack of following common sense! Let’s not leave out the pure critic who favors a certain “NAME Product” without the facts the person just trashes all other companys being blindly loyal 2 only that certain company they favor most! Not all Samsungs R better then Panasonics etc….it just depends rights? Its on a case by case basis regarding who’s better. I feel this can change any given day as the tech world keeps paving forward! So food 4 thought….Vizo was a low buget only Company when they entered…..now some of there TVs R getting better rankings then the Big Names who been around! At the end of the day learn how 2 calabrate your TV first or read your entire manual take baby steps some of U….reading reviews should B worthwhile time spent! So thanx 2 those who do the outstanding detail “tech break downs” when doing your tv reviews. Wow I feel better with this off my chest! P.S. It also Swivels…..no tight neck!

I purchased an LG 42PC3D-UD.AC1 plasma television in Sept of 2006 mostly because of the two year warranty. Just shy of the two years a lot pop, no picture, but still sound. Contacted LG and they got local company to repair under warranty. They replaced the Y SUS PCB and POWER PCB. Everything work until Jan of 2010 and once again loud pop, no picture, but still sound. Contacted LG and they of course said, sorry so sad, but nothing we can do as the warranty is no longer in place. We again contacted the local repair center and were told this same part again would be around $400 dollars plus tax. I researched once more and bought a 42 inch Samsung television at Costco with a two year warranty. Thanks a lot LG for your so called longevity of these TV”s for 60,000 of hours maintenance free. This LG television was a throw away and at a cost of $400 a year for the four years it lasted. Some kind of warranty. No longer an LG fan and as well the DVD we purchased with this television lasted eight months.
