The KDL-40W600B shows how Sony can really dress a TV. While there isn’t anything too exciting about the KDL-40W600B dressing, it certainly is covers up the basic options and for a lay man, it would be among the higher end models (just by the look of it). The screen here is minimal and comes with dark borders with a silver stand complimenting the metallic look. The metallic accent does present a superior look to the model. The design of the KDL-40W600B isn’t just for show but is made to be highly functional. Peeking at the back of the monitor, one would find various shared components/composites. This includes four HDMI ports, two USB’s, an optical digital audio out, one Ethernet in and a coaxial jack. The navigation wheel is pure basic but highly interactive. If you aren’t a fan of a hard cubical remote, you can always download the Sony touch controller app into your smart device. It works just fine with the KDL-40W600B.

Coming to the picture quality, the screen is certainly enhanced by deep black levels and finer whites. The TV does provide a natural viewing and in the 16:9 formats, the experience can be quite lifelike. The anti reflective coating on the screen can however be disadvantageous if you have installed the monitor on a bright environmental setting. The colors look a bit washed out in this condition. Find a darker corner in the room and you would be doing fine. Side viewing angle can still be a worry and the picture quality isn’t the same from all corner of the room. The best output is received by the ones sitting right in front of the screen and in its level. Technologies like Motionflow XR 240 and X-Reality Pro too make a generous contribution to the KDL-40W600B. The audio quality is good enough to integrate the TV into your home theatre system.

There is little wrong with the Sony KDL-40W600B considering you have to pay just under $500. gives Sony KDL-40W600B 4/5 stars.
