Samsung UN26EH4000 Review – 26-inch LED LCD HDTVOriginally Reviewed on May 8th, 2012
Up for Review: Samsung UN26EH4000 LED LCD HDTV. The 26-inch model launched by Samsung looks like the traditional TV sets available in the market. It lacks most of the features offered by the latest higher end HDTV sets including 3D technology compatibility, 1080p HD resolution, and networking options to access internet. But it comes with a lower price-tag and smaller screen size that enable you to use the device in a flexible and convenient manner.
You can accommodate the TV set in a small apartment or bachelor den. If you use the TV set only to watch informative programs like news, weather and talk shows, the model can complement your needs. But the overall video quality offered by the TV set may not complement the latest movies, television programs and games. You can further consider using the device as a backup or second TV set for your home, and place it in your study, bedroom or dormitory.
However, 720p resolution offered by the TV set may not encourage you to watch your favorite family dramas and daily soaps. Also, most of the latest movies, TV programs and other digital content are made in original 1080p HD resolution. So your family members will need a HDTV set to access the latest digital content in an exact and realistic manner. The video quality produced by the device is also impacted due to the lack of edge-lit local dimming feature. However, the video quality offered by the TV set will not have a huge impact on watching normal TV programs at regular intervals.
Samsung UN26EH4000 Features and Specifications Review:
- 720p Screen Resolutions
- 60 Hz Refresh Rate
- LED Backlight technology
- 2 HDMI and 1 USB Port
- Dolby Digital Plus/Dolby Pulse
- ConnectShare Movie
The model supports 60 Hz refresh rate that is much lower than the subfield motion rate supported by the higher end HDTV sets launched by the manufacturer. With the feature you can watch the normal TV programs like news, weather, family dramas and talk shows. But the refresh rate is too low to support the faster moving sports and action scenes by eliminating motion blur. The inability of the model to reduce motion blur will also impact its popularity among the youngsters and kids. They will like to have a TV set that allows them to watch the sports and action channels along with their favorite 3D movies and video games.
Samsung has further designed UN26EH4000 without including any wired or wireless networking and internet access option. But the model comes with 2 HDMI and USB ports that can be used by a viewer to access his offline collection of movies, music, videos, photos and games. The kids can connect their gaming consoled and play the games on the TV screen. Similarly, you can connect a DVD or Blu-ray player, camcorder or digital camera to the device and access the offline content stored on these devices. However, the normal video quality produced by the device may not encourage users to explore these connectivity and input options.
HDTVUniverse.com gives Samsung UN26EH4000 3/5 stars!
