Vizio VW46LF Review – 46-inch LCD HDTV
Originally Reviewed on March 24th, 2008Early in 2008, Vizio updated its line of LCD HDTVs, and announced new additions to its existing VW series. Vizio aims to combine together excellent picture quality and aesthetics while at the same time providing excellent value for money for the consumer. The 46″ screen in this budget-buy series, available in stores, is the VIZIO VW46LF. This particular set not only has great looks and style, but features to back it up as well. Like other large-screen HDTVs from Vizio, the VW46LFHDTV10a features full 1080p resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and has a maximum retail price of $1,399. Unlike the earlier models from the company, this one comes in complete piano black bezel frame, and at a very respectable 53 pounds. Before we jump to the testing, here’s a quick look at some of its features and specs.

We tested the VW46LF with a variety of content, including standard and high-definition television, video discs, and as a PC display, and it delivered excellent results in all our tests. With its support for full 1080p at 60 frames per second, even next-gen games on both the Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 look great, though a special Game Mode would be a welcome addition in future models of the series. Colors remained excellent throughout with very good levels of black. Like all Vizio sets, the display also supports wall mounting. It is, of course, not a Sony or Samsung, but for someone looking for a quality large screen display, with all the bells and whistles, the VIZIO VW46LF comes across as a welcome addition to their homes.

When you put this tv to use on an HD channel, you will see things you have never seen before. Great tv for the money. Sporting events are so clear you can pick out people in the stands while focusing on the action. I actually saw a gnat fly onto Tiger Woods golf ball. Had it for 3 months and it has run flawless! Glare in a room with a lot of light is minimal, much better than the CRT tv I had there before. Highly recommend it.

After six months my Vizio was great too. Twelve months later, NOT. Horizontal lines going across the top half of the screen. It’s in the panel and it is costly.

I can’t record a tv program from my vw46L. It will not record a tape or disc. This makes me sorry I did not research my choice of tv’s more closely before buying!

Do yourself a favor and purchase the extended warrenty. Vizio was awesome for a little over a year. After that the Dash Board went out and the part cost more then the TV it self. This is a know issue with Vizio’s and that is why they are selling a line of refurbished TV. Trying to work a deal with Walmart as Vizio wouldn’t even talk to me about it since it was a month over the year.

I loved the TV at first, but just as my 1 year warranty expired I started to get dark areas on the left side of my screen. After watching for about 30 minutes, it seems to go away. You can’t play any video games or watch anything in detail. I would never buy a Visio again.

Our TV worked for about 18 months. Then it wouldn/t shut off and didn’t recognize the HDMI. It would cost $400 to fix it. I have been told this is typical for VIZIO and I won’t be buying anything from them.

Yes, I have to agree with Ryan, good for a year and a half and then the dark areas started. At barely three years old, we have to put up with at least an hour or so of very dark screen. Should a $1200. t v only be expected to last less than one and a half years. I have a 12 year old JVC still worjing on a porch with a beautiful picture, no waiting for a good picture and……. yet no flat screen HD
So it’s buyer beware, as with most things in life. Will not recommend VIZIO to anyone, Hello FaceBook..
