Vizio VMM26 Review – 26-inch LCD HDTV

Vizio VMM26 Review: 26” LCD MonitorVizio VMM26 review

Up for review: Vizio VMM26. The VMM26 monitor is a new flat panel multimedia display from Vizio. From looks to features, the VMM26 is very impressive. The LCD monitor is glossy with an anti-glare coating and an anti-scratch coating on the plastic part. This lends a soothing effect to the eyes even if the room lights are dimmed or the backlight glow is increased. This prolongs the longevity of the LCD. To add to this, there is an option to change the height and angle of the screen as desired.

The screen has a touch panel too. A light touch is enough to guide the user through the options and adjust the brightness and contrast with ease. However, the screen being ultra-sensitive gathers a lot of dust and fingerprints too. Keeping it clean will be a struggle. The resolution is a healthy 1920 x 1200 which is great for a 26” LCD monitor.

The Vizio VMM26 LCD is balanced on a stand at a height of 4” from the ground. This stand is detachable and the LCD can be mounted on the wall too. Four USB inputs and outputs have been integrated into this model. All USB devices including a digital camera can be connected through these ports. Downloading favorite photographs can be done easily now. A HD game port including HDMI is present at the side which allows gaming consoles to be connected. A headphone jack aids game play too.

The VMM26 is big and a feast for the eyes. The glossy glass screen makes the images sharply focused. However, the viewing angle could have been better to compete with other LCD‘s. The images are not clear if not viewed at a vertical angle. Otherwise the LCD gives colorful and vivid images which are crystal clear. A price of $429.99 MSRP is not too bad either. The touch-screen controls are very user friendly.

HDTVUniverse.com gives Vizio VMM26 9/10 stars!

I have the monitor version- looks similar to a big iPOD touch!

I bought one at Sams Club for $348 and I have to say that I am very impressed. I prefer glossy LCDs to the matte finishes and this one certainly has some vivid color and text is crips and clear. Gaming looks good and the functions are easy to use. For the money, this is one great deal!

I will NOT buy another Vizio!

I purchased one in July 2009. The TV went South (Blank screen, cannot shut off w/o unplugging). I called Vizio and was informed that I would have to pay for shipping the piece of crap back for repairs. I stated that I did not want this one back but wanted a new replacement. Nope, no can do. That is not an option. I have heard through others that Vizio is a cheap piece of crap, and now I agree. Anyone that buys a Vizio is taking a huge gamble!

  7. Ronn's reviewMarch 14, 2012

The monitor is great for roughly 2 years at which point it can and most likely WILL fail. To me it boils down to the cost of use which is extremely high. ($150 + per yr)
