Vizio VA370M Review – 37-inch LCD HDTV
Originally Reviewed on August 22nd, 2010Vizio VA370M Review: 37” LCD HDTV
Up for Review: Vizio VA370M LCD TV. Vizio has integrated the traditional features of the LCD TVs with the latest technical advancements made this year in this model. You are sure to be impressed by the sleek outer design of the TV which is surrounded by a slim black bezel on all sides. The short neck connected to a rectangular stand gives a sturdy look to the TV. The 37-inch screen of the TV makes it ideal for any setting in the house. It can occupy the central place in your living room or also serve as a second TV in the house and be placed in a bedroom. It is neither too large nor too small. And a price of $579.99 makes it accessible to all kinds of people.
The HDTV has a resolution of 1080p which makes the images sharp and clear. With about 2 million pixels to view every image, you get distinct contours of every object on the screen. There are 16.7 million colors which also add to the beauty of the images making them look very natural. You can clearly see the different kinds of reds, blues and other colors. The TV sports a brightness of 500 cd/m2, which is adequate for imparting just the right kind of lighting for a clear image. To enhance the picture quality still further, there is a 3D comb filter which clears away all the noise in the images and makes the pictures look really crisp.
Vizio VA370M Features and Specifications Review:
- 1080p Full HD Resolution
- SRS TruVolume
- SRS TruSurround
- EcoHD Technology
- 6,500:1 Contrast Ratio
- 500 cd/m2 brightness
- 60 Hz refresh rate
- 1 USB port
- 2 HDMI
Vizio has not paid much attention to the energy conservation features of this TV. While most of the HDTVs today are vying to stay ahead of the Energy Star 5.0 specifications, this TV only conforms to the Energy Star 3.0 requirements. But the audio continues to impress with the TruSurround HD and TruVolume features. It simulates a feeling of having speakers all around you. This helps you to hear the dialogues clearly along with the music. TruVolume takes care of the fluctuations in sound during the advertisements and channel changes. You can set the sound which suits your ears and the TV will automatically keep the sound at this level all the time.
The refresh rate of 60Hz too may not be sufficient to keep out all the blurring. But it is good enough to watch normal TV broadcassting and also medium action scenes. But if you want to enjoy a really action-filled movie, you may be disappointed with the results. The connectivity options are also just satisfactory in this TV. You have only 2 HDMI to view high definition devices. But the presence of the USB port brings some relief as you can watch the digital photos on the big screen. Vizio has certainly compromised with some of the features to give you a low-priced LCD TV.
HDTVUniverse.com gives Vizio VA370M 3/5 stars!

I bought my tv back in 03/14/10 and today 11/07/10 the screen goes black while I am either watching a movie or playing a game on xbox. If I select another channel and then go back to the channel I was on, the screen is there for about a minute and then fades to black again. I contacted walmart, where I bought it, and since it is still under vizio’s warranty, they wouldn’t consider anything and now I am waiting for vizio to contact me back, but their instructions were that after I get permission, I will send it to them, but unknown how long they will keep it, to “repair” it. That really messes up my plans.
