Vizio E370VA Review: 37” LCD HDTV

Up for Review: Vizio E370VA LCD TV. Continuing in its tradition of producing good looking and technologically advanced HDTVs, Vizio has brought out this 37-inch model which is of an ideal size to fit in your living room and also in the kid’s room and dorm. This is basically a set which is meant for the average consumer who does not believe in combining the features of a computer with that of a TV. All he wants is a few hours of wholesome entertainment which is just what this set can provide. The outer design is quite the same as most of the other HDTVs. However, the interior is much more technically advanced than the TVs of last year.

Vizio has maintained a 1080p resolution even in this 37-inch TV. This makes the pictures clear and crisp. With 1.06 billion colors making up the images, you can expect perfectly natural skin tones and the exact shade of the apparel or nail varnish that the model is wearing on TV. The brightness is also good enough and the images appear bright both in well-lighted and dimly-lighted rooms. The TV has a very good viewing angle of 178 degrees both in the horizontal and vertical directions. You can place the TV anywhere in the room and still get a very good view of it.

Vizio E370VA Features and Specifications Review:

  • 37 in LCD HDTV
  • Native Panel Resolution: 1920 x 1080 pixels
  • Colors: 1.06 Billion
  • Brightness: 500 cd/m2 (typical)
  • Response Time: 5ms
  • Viewable Angle: 178/178 degrees (horizontal/vertical)
  • SRS TruSurround HD, SRS TruVolume
  • 4 HDMI, RF, Component YPbPr, Computer RGB, USB inputs
  • 10W x 2 speakers

The audio is good with SRS TruSurround HD sound. You feel engulfed with music and dialogues from every direction even if you sit away from the TV. Every chord strikes your ears with perfect clarity. The SRS TruVolume filters out the fluctuations in the sound level and you can enjoy a constant sound without the level suddenly increasing with change in channels or with the commercials coming on. There are 2 speakers of 10W each which contribute to a loud enough sound and you may not need a home theater system to add to it after all.

There are a host of connectivity options which include 4 HDMI and a few USB inputs too. Using these inputs, you can increase your entertainment options by connecting a Blu-ray disc player, a camcorder, a gaming console and other high definition devices. Watching movies and fast moving games on a 1080p resolution TV and 60 Hz refresh rate can be a real pleasure. There may be some issues of blurring if the action is too fast in the scenes but this will not be much of a problem while watching regular TV programs. Investing money in this set is good if you don’t have too many expectations from your TV. It is a good set for any regular TV viewer. gives Vizio E370VA 4/5 stars!

    Good Picture
    Lousy sound in all settings
Channels take 4-5 seconds to change.
Only paid $450, so the above issues aren’t that important to me at this point.
Had I to do it over, I’d spend extra bucks and get a more responsive set.

  2. Mary Hollins's reviewNovember 22, 2010

Just purchased this tv on 11/21/10 on sale for $399. It was easy set up, but it does take up to 5 seconds for the channels to change. The sound in mine is great and the picture is great. I like that it adjusts to the light and it has the wide, game, panaview and another setting that you can set it to instantly. It fits nice in the living room. I will have to get use to the time it takes to change channels but other then that its a good set. If I did have the extra $100 to spend at the time I would of opted for the 40″ samsung though. Maybe next season I will put this set in my bedroom and get the samsung.

Just bought this the on 12/28/10. So far it is a great TV. I had gotten an 40 inch Phillips first, but had to return it because of major quality issues. Picked this one up, hooked it up through the HDMI to my cable box and hooked up my surround and so far I love this TV. Don’t know about the 4-5 sec channel change issue, mine has no problem, changes instantly. All in all i am very satisfied with this TV and i recommend it to anyone.
