Vizio E320VA Review – 32-inch LCD HDTV

Vizio E320VA Review: 32” LCD HDTV

Up for Review: Vizio E320VA LCD TV. Vizio has made this model for the budget-conscious consumer who wants a little bit of everything but for an affordable price. By integrating this TV with 720p, it has compromised with the resolution and hence picture quality when compared with other TVs. But the manufacture has been shrewd enough to judge that a 32-inch TV will in all probability be purchased as a second option in the house and so should sell for a lesser price. In fact, this TV can be best enjoyed by your kids who can watch the cartoon channels as much as they want. You can also keep it in your office room to watch the news or the weather. Since most of the TV channels produce 720p content, you will have no problem in watching any of the programs in them.

However, there has been no change in the contrast ratio which has been maintained at 50,000:1. This is enough for producing good black levels in the TV. When you compare the black levels in this set with the sets of the previous year, you will find a great improvement in it. There are 1.06 billion colors which provide a natural look to the images. This set has 178 degrees viewing angle for both horizontal and vertical directions. This means you can sit anywhere in the room and still get a good view of the pictures. There will be no washing out of colors at the edges.

Vizio E320VA Features and Specifications Review:

  • 32″ LCD panel
  • 720p resolution
  • Dynamic contrast ratio: 50,000:1
  • Response time: 8ms
  • Refresh rate: 60Hz
  • 4 HDMI
  • Built-in ambient lighting sensor
  • USB photo viewing via flash drive
  • Energy Star 4.0 compliant

Vizio has compromised with the refresh rate and response time of this set too. They have been decreased to 60 Hz and 8ms respectively. This will no doubt have an effect on the blurring in the action scenes. The really swift action sequences which can be seen in cars whizzing by or in the swishing of swords may look a bit blurred with the frames not being able to get refreshed as quickly as the action. You will not enjoy playing games and watching action movies so much in this TV. With the resolution at 720p, you will also not enjoy watching movies at their full capacity on a Blu-ray disc player.

There is a built-in ambient light sensor which helps you view the pictures just as you would like it. It controls fluctuations in the brightness and customizes it according to the lighting in the room. The connectivity options are also good. There are 4 HDMI along with an USB for photo viewing. This allows you to connect DVD players, gaming consoles and camcorders without any problem. You can also enjoy watching the photos that you click with your digital camera on this TV. And after getting hours of all-round entertainment, you don’t even run up a big electricity bill, thanks to many energy conservation features by Vizio. This model conforms to the Energy Star 4.0 requirements too.

HDTVUniverse.com gives Vizio E320VA 4/5 stars!

  1. Marcia P Cope's reviewDecember 06, 2010

We like this TV except for the volume!! We are constantly having to turn the volume down while watching a program; it is very annoying. We will go with another brand of TV when we purchase another one. I read reviews with people stating they had this problem; guess I thought it wouldn’t happen to us.

  2. Jill B's reviewJanuary 01, 2011

We also enjoy our t.v. The picture is great, but similar to Marcia’s review we also are constantly having with our volume levels. The difference with us is that we have to turn the t.v. up or down depending on commercials, programs, or channels. It also happens in the middle of a program. We thought it was our cable service, but after reading the previous review, we’re thinking it is the t.v…
Plus, the t.v. will suddenly shut off on us and then sometimes has trouble reconnecting to our cable box.
Like we said, nice picture, and the set looks nice, but…
We will probably go with something else next time too.

this TV need recall, not properly working with a cable providers, long delay in showing a picture and sound when switching from one channel to another

  4. Dan's reviewJanuary 25, 2011

The Tv has Volume Control Issues… it also takes like Forever Just to Come “ON” and then after picture comes on…the sound come few seconds later. Also when changing channels…. it Lags. Not a Good Choice in Televisions.

  5. Heather S.'s reviewMay 05, 2011

I too have sound problems with this TV! And like Jill, it turns off randomly on its own. The sound is very frustrating! I have seen on other versions of the Vizio that the sound is an issue also, but with them it seems to be resolved by turning off the SRS Tru-Volume. I just did it, so we shall see……….. They definately need to recall this model!

  6. Kimberly's reviewMay 25, 2011

Wow be warn if you buy this TV. All the reviews are true. I brought two of these tv’s. First it was the volume control issue, then when the tv is on for awhile the sound just stops. You have to change the channel to get the sound working again. Then when you do that, the tv turns off. Nice picture, but other than that is is crap. Technical support was very good trying to resolve the issue.

  7. Jennifer's reviewSeptember 06, 2011

Believe me, all the above is true. Too bad the company doesn’t care much about what they put on the market.

  8. John's reviewNovember 06, 2011

Avoid this TV. Bought this TV as a simple low-cost unit for our son’s playroom. While the picture is really good the TV has a design defect with its sound system. I have it connected to a Cisco Explorer 4650HDC box (HDMI) and the sound stutters and/or goes off about 50% of the time on 50% of the channels. Tested with two cable boxes and same issue. Cable boxes both work fine on other TVs. Worked with tech support to reboot the unit, downloaded new firmware and even had main board changed out with no improvement. Vizio states they are done and that it must be the cable company. This is crap and basically a cover for them to say they have a bad TV and do not want/know how to fix it. Spend a little more money and get the Sony or Samsung etc…

  9. Alice Eastin's reviewMay 18, 2012

Vizio definitely needs to recall this model in order to save it’s name. Personally, I will NEVER buy another Vizio product after the experience with this E320VA. The sound may be good for 15 minutes, then it’s all over the place, then off. The only way to get sound back is to turn the TV off and on again, and like another review, that takes at least a minute to get it back up again. I’ve tried it on Comcast Cable, Dish Network and Antenna. All results are the same. Phooey!
