Olevia 232V Review – 32-inch LCD HDTV
Originally Reviewed on October 3rd, 2007The lesser known brand names like Vizio and Olevia are fast becoming well-known brands because of their amazingly low prices compared to Sony, Panasonic and others. The Olevia 232V is a 32-inch LCD HDTV available from large retailer Circuit City and other online stores. The 232V is a very reasonably priced flat panel at under $550. It features 720p resolution which isn’t top of the line but for a TV of this size, it’s very sufficient. This HDTV features an all black matte finish bezel, uncharacteristic of the very trendy glossy black that many manufacturer’s are using. It also has side mounted speakers which make it appear even wider. it’s not the most impressive brand name or exterior look but you’re not buying it make people jealous.

The Syntax Olevia 232V is a great option for someone looking to finally upgrade to a flat panel TV but doesn’t want to spend a fortune on a high-end, top of the line set. It includes all the necessary features but doesn’t go overboard to keep the price down. One noticeable downside to this HDTV is the lack of inputs. It may work for some users but if you have a surround sound system, dvd player, video game player and other add-ons, you may find yourself running out of inputs. All-in-all, the Olevia 232V is a great option for someone looking for a great bargain buy.

I bought this set ( 232V) in 2008 and I have had NO problem’s with it yet. I love the color and the crisp, clear picture is just great. AS far as connection’s go, I have a surround system, and have plenty of input’s to connect it as well as my DVD player and VCR etc. I did not know about this brand and took a chance…obvious, price was a factor, but I am very glad I took a chance. Of course I was amazed when I hooked it up, and found that Digital was already in the air. I am using an indoor antenna and recepition is great. It is like having Cable/Dish, but no bill.
You may be able to spend more $, but I really don’t think the picture can be that much better. Having said that, I am sure many will disagree.

I have a 232-S13 Olevia great picture and a great price . I am completely satisfied except for the led light (blue ) which stays on after shutting off tv . Much too bright for bedroom . Any way to turn this light off ?

Hey Joe,
Maybe a solution would be to close your eyes when you sleep? If you can see that little LED you either have your eyes open, or you must have transparent eyelids. hahaha
It’s beena few days since I have read something incredibly stupid on the Internet, but that last RE: above just reset the counter. Shucks, I had a good run going too.

Great tv after I fixed the HUMMING noise. Here’s how I got rid of my hum on a 232v (232-S13) and hope this helps some of you out there. Press Menu > Picture > Mode > Power Up. Once there Switch to “Home” instead of “Showroom”. As soon as I did that my hum disappeared completely. I can’t guarantee that it will work with everybody’s but I played with every setting hoping to get rid of the hum and that’s what did the trick for me. Hope this helps somebody.
