Up for Review: Sony KDL-46EX500 LCD TV. The Sony name has become so synonymous with excellent quality and advanced technology that even when the TVs are not featured with the introductory and revolutionary technologies of the year, they sell like hot cakes. Sony is also expecting to do great business in the EX500 series this year even if they come without the 3D and Internet ready features. It is meant for people who might like to take a calculated move by going in for something simple this year and opting for the 3D and Internet features after they become truly accepted by the consumers next year.
But you do get the Bravia Engine 2 with this TV which certainly makes us expect enhanced picture quality. The images will also appear to be crystal clear and the noise factor will be reduced to the minimum. The images will be further brought to life by the Motionflow 120 Hz technology. Action scenes will be a pleasure to watch. There have been further enhancements in this area in the higher end models and you might find some difference if you are carefully compare the two. But 120 Hz certainly calls for decent images with no trailing or blurring.
Sony KDL-46EX500 Features and Specifications Review:
- Full HD 1080p Resolution
- Ambient Sensor
- USB Input
- Motionflow™ 120Hz Technology
- LightSensor™ Technology
- 7 HD Inputs
- BRAVIA Engine™ 2
- BRAVIA® Sync™ Capable
Sony sticks to the 1080p display resolution in this TV too. 720p resolution would have caused a dip in the prices and you would not have noticed any difference while watching the standard soaps and talk shows on the TV. But when you connect Blu-ray disc players, you wish for 1080p so that you can get better clarity and color. The pictures are also razor-sharp which gives a magical thrill while watching the movies. And no matter how many devices you connect to the TV, make sure that they are compatible with Bravia Sync so that you can access them with one remote.
The sensors are good when you are not in the mood to adjust the picture settings. The ambient sensor adjusts the color according to the ambiance in the room and the light sensor takes care of the brightness. Along with intelligent sensors, Sony also provides good connectivity options. There are 7 HD inputs and 1 USB port which include 4 HDMI. These can be used to connect high definition devices like camcorders, Blu-ray disc players and Playstation gaming consoles. The presence of a PC input also helps you to use the TV as a computer monitor. This is a normal TV but with the guarantee of giving you the best picture quality. It will make a good buy.
HDTVUniverse.com gives Sony KDL-46EX500 3/5 stars!
