Sony KDL-40EX700 Review – 40-inch LED LCD HDTV
Originally Reviewed on May 5th, 2010Sony KDL-40EX700 Review: 40” LED LCD HDTV
Up for Review: Sony KDL-40EX700 LED LCD TV. Sony has not tried exploring the extremely small screen sizes like the 22 and the 26 inches in this series this time. 40 inches is not that bad a size to keep in an average sized living room. And this size appeals to many customers because of the affordable cost along with the ever-important Sony name. They can get the optimized look along with the Bravia® Internet Video feature which is standard in most of the TVs released this year. Since 3D has just been released in a few TVs this year, we are yet to know the impact of these TVs and how well the audience will like to wear glasses every time they want to see the effects. For the time being, the customers may be a bit wary of investing in the 3D models and go for these models instead.
With a full home theater system, you will never feel the need of going out when you enjoy the music and movies, because of the amount of content you can stream from the Internet. YouTube itself is sufficient to give you everything you need. Besides this, there are many other websites lined up to provide their services and become popular in the process. You too will find an avenue to fulfill your entertainment needs and access the Internet through the TV itself.
Sony KDL-40EX700 Features and Specifications Review:
- Full HD 1080p Resolution
- BRAVIA® Internet Video
- USB Input
- Edge LED backlight
- Motionflow™ 120Hz Technology
- Presence Sensor
- Wi-Fi® Adapter Ready
- Ambient Sensor
- Energy Saving Switch
Sensors play an important role in the instant appeal that you feel for this TV. It really feels amazing to know that the TV will be able to guess if you are attentive or not and dim the lights. And the moment you are out of the room, it will switch off the audio. 30 minutes of absence from the room and the TV will go into standby mode. What more energy conservation do you want? In fact, there is still room for more. The Energy Saving Switch even does not use the power from the power source and there is zero power usage. Sony is sure in the front seat as far as power conservation is concerned.
The Motionflow™ 120 Hz technology is the hallmark of this TV and you get to see the action sequences in a natural way. The frame rate is doubled and an Image Blur Reduction technology is applied to get smooth flowing action scenes. This refresh rate is enough to give you the desired effects and you hardly feel the need for higher rates. The connectivity is as usual quite good and you will be happy with your USB port and Wi-Fi adapter ready features. You may not get the 3D features in this TV but you are sure to get your money’s worth buying this TV.
HDTVUniverse.com gives Sony KDL-40EX700 4/5 stars!

This tv makes alot of cracking noises. We only noticed after the 30 day exchange warranty. The noise comes from the back of the tv. The tv needs an update to connect to the internet . The sound and picture have both failed and Sony blames the rogers box and the hdmi connection.Don’t buy this piece of junk.
