Up for Review: Sony KDL-32EX720 LED LCD TV. Sony has always been successful in giving the viewers a visual treat and the models this year too are adding to the enjoyable experience. This 32-inch model is an example of the Sony sophistication both in looks and performance. It is an ultra-thin LED TV, and you can hardly see the bezel anymore with the display dominating the front surface. Being edge-lit helps the set to be really slim. There is also hardly anything left wanting in the features, with the TV having 3D and Internet access. These are the two main features which you will look for in any set that you buy today. The only point against this TV is the size, which may just be right for your office or kid’s room.

The 3D feature is much more developed in this set compared to the sets of last year. You can see much better 3D as well as 2D images. However, the glasses are still the active shutter kind which means that you have to bear with the heavy and costly pairs of glasses in this set too. These have rechargeable batteries which can be recharged on the USB port on the TV. The manufacturer does not offer any free pairs with the set. You have to buy all the pairs that you need. But you will have no complaints about the picture quality with the X-Reality engine boosting the images to have sharper edges and more contrast. There is a light sensor technology in this set too which can sense the amount of brightness required and tune the TV accordingly.

Connectivity is as usual very good along with the Internet streaming feature. You can access many good movies from Qriocity and NetFlix, videos from YouTube, TV shows from Hulu Plus, music from Pandora and much more. There are Internet widgets too which help in getting the latest weather and news. The special feature of this set is the Skype access which allows you to make video calls to anyone in the world through the Internet. You will need an additional camera and a microphone for this. You can also get a separate Wi-Fi adapter to stream music, movies, videos and much more from the Internet. The Ethernet connection can also be used for a wired connection. DLNA streaming is possible from the compatible devices and you can see the photos and videos that you have stored on the PC.

Trying to lessen the energy consumption even more, Sony has introduced the Presence Sensor in this model which can determine if there is anyone in the room and switch off the picture accordingly. If it detects no movement in the room even after a few minutes, it will go off to stand-by mode. Apart from this energy saving feature, the TV also proves itself useful with its 4 HDMI and 2 USB ports. 4 HDMI is enough for connecting the high definition devices to the set. With the Bravia Sync feature, you can control all the devices connected through HDMI with one remote, provided all of them are Sony devices too. The set is a good one to buy if you are specifically searching for a 32-inch set with all the good features of the year.
