We purchased a 52inch Sony Bravia from Best Buy in Jan of 2008. In Dec of 2009 the T.V. started to display picture problems to which the picture was distorted and would adjust itself after about 10 min. After placing a call into the customer service dept of Sony on Dec 30, 2009, I was advised by the rep that I needed to trouble shoot a list of issues before they would do anything. As time happens, this issue with our T.V got worse and came to a head in July of 2010. The picture would no longer adjust itself and was just lines. After calling Sony on July 15, they explained that they are unable to do anything due to the warranty being expired as of Jan, 2010. When I explained that there is a documented call on both ends in Dec with an open claim they acknowledged this but again refused to do anything. After taking a day off of work July 30th, to further deal with this issue, they advised that they could not again do anything until I brought it to an authorized TV repair shop. After paying for the repair fee, (which I shouldn't have had to pay) I was advised that it was the panel and it would be an estimated $2750.00 to fix. We were able to fax both this and a copy of my receipt to Sony. They then advised me that the only thing they could do was offer me a discount on a 2010 52in tv. They could sell it to me for $1475 plus tax. This is unacceptable. I do not buy quality products at that price ($2799.00) only to have them completely break down under 2-yrs. This issue should be resolved in its entirety because of my open claim in Dec of 2009. Sony is not honoring their Warranty nor there good name. They are selling faulty products to consumers that are unaware of the issues that can happen.
