Up for review: Sharp LC-46BD80U LCD TV. The standout feature of the new Aquos BD80U series LC-46BD80U LCD from Sharp is the built-in Blu-ray player. The huge 46” LCD with a built-in Blu-ray disc player solves the space constraint problem. A convenient all-in-one HD home theater solution, this LCD is also backwards compatible with standard DVD’s. A built-in Blu-ray player also reduces the various cables which is especially nice if you mount your TV on the wall.
A great thing about the built-in Blu-ray disc feature of this LCD TV is that unlike most other Blu-ray players, it only takes a few seconds to go to the play mode. The side panel of the LCD facilitates easy access to disc loading. As soon as a disc is inserted, the LCD will be turned on automatically and playback will be started.
The Sharp LC-46BD80U LCD HDTV is embedded with Full HD1080p (1920 x 1080) native resolution, which is the highest available in the market, hence picture output is expected to be superb. In addition to this, the LCD has 120Hz fine motion processing to take care of video artifacts during fast motion scenes. Sharp has introduced an innovative superlucent ASV anti-glare panel technology which it claims will produce vivid color images during lower reflection video processing period.
It also has 10-Bit Panel and OPC function for enhanced color contrast feature which most likely will deliver a better color contrast image output adjusting to changing room conditions. The innovative AQUOS Pure Mode feature senses the aspect ratio of the Blu-ray title and optimizes the LCD’s view mode for best possible high definition content. S

Buyer Beware!!!!
I bought a Sharp Aquos 46″ LCD TV Feb 1, 2007. Just over 2 years old the TV developed a black pixel line through the center of the LCD display. I was told by the panel was going bad and that it needed replaced. When asked how much it cost, it was $3200. More than I paid for the TV. I called Sharp and since I did not purchase and extended warranty, they would not fix the TV.
Lessons:
1. Buy extended warranty.
2. DON’T BUY SHARP PRODUCTS!!!!!
I’ve had TVs last for 10 years, very disappointed in the lack of quality and backing of the TV by SHARP. I will never buy a SHARP product again.
Buyer beware!!!!

I bought a Sharp Aquos LCD 4 months ago for $2700.00. Three months later, it turned itself off and hasn’t worked since. It has been at the service agent for the past 5 weeks who keep saying that Sharp have sent the wrong part…Sharp are slow with replcament parts etc. Why the hell don’t Sharp replace my TV with a new one??????? It came with a 3 year warranty that is worth a piece of shit. Shame Mister Sharp, this is one loyal customer who will never buy or recommend another Sharp product……..Last week I went to Harvey Norman to purchase a Convection Microwave oven, they had 2 brands available…Sharp or LG……well I’m very happy with my new $1000.00 LG oven and highly recommend it.

We bought a 46″ SHARP AQUOS in 2010, at that time it was the top of the line at Sears. Previous to this we had a VIZIO that we purchased from costco which only lasted 1 1/2 yr. before half of the screen turned black. Because of this we decided to buy form Sears with a warranty and go with a quality reputable brand that would last long. NOT! The sarp didn’t even make it a full year! The pixels in the center of the screen turned black within 6 months and then the power supply completely failed within 10 months, it won’t even turn on! What made it worse was teh HORRIBLE service I received from sears. They screwed up the service calls 6 times over the phone ant ehn I had to wait 2 weeks for the wrong part! The service tech over the phone said “the power failure is a common problem and sharp should’ve known what part to send.” So…2 weeks and still waiting for the right part from sharp. If I didn’t buy a sharp Aquos I wouldn’t have to deal with the horrible service that is sears and I would have a working television right now. All bells and whistles for nothing it only lasted 10 months! Save your money, buy something more affordable becuase Sharp Aquos is not worth ONE PENNY! And by all means do not buy from sears if you expect actual customer service!
