Up for Review: Samsung UN46C8000 LED LCD TV. Being among the initial breed of 3D TVs to be released this year, these TVs may have to combat the reluctance of the people to opt for something so completely different. The additional 3D glasses needed are not exactly what the viewers are going to like either. Along with this innovative technology, Samsung has gone in for a change in the exterior looks this time also. The sleek black looks have been replaced by a metallic silver bezel with a transparent plastic border. Some of the main controls have been integrated into this plastic border at the bottom. These are not buttons but are touch-friendly instead.
The remote available with the TV is not very impressive although it scores high on good looks. You have the option of getting the touch-interface remote of the 9000 series too for an additional price. But the area where Samsung dominates the field is in the LED edge-lit backlighting. Known as precision dimming, this technology allows dimming in select sections of the screen. This leads to better images and more energy conservation.

Samsung is trying to make up for its poor show last year in streaming content from the Internet. It integrates the main Apps platform along with the major steaming services like YouTube and Netflix. You can also download Yahoo widgets like Amazon VOD. The system is much more streamlined this year but there is still a long way to go. Video and audio quality is good and so is the response time. Weather, sports and games are the main areas of interest in this TV. Other sites like Facebook are soon expected to make it to the Apps platform.
This set has an unimaginable mega dynamic contrast ratio of 8,000,000:1 which is a sure indicator of great blacks and purest whites. The images are sure to take on a natural look with the colors being seen in the maximum number of shades. And with 3D to back these images, you will really feel as if you are interacting with them. With the refresh rate being 240 Hz, you can expect the pictures to be razor sharp with no blurring in the images. It is sure to be a completely different experience. The only thing you wish was within your reach is the price of the set. But if you want really good features, you must be prepared to loosen your purse strings a bit.
