Samsung UN46C6900 Review: 46” LED LCD HDTV

Up for Review: Samsung UN46C6900 LED LCD TV. If you can afford to pass on the 3D technology this year, then this 46-inch model from Samsung is perfect in every other way. The size itself is a positive point in favor of this TV as it will look imposing in the living room. And Samsung has brought back the claw-like stand in this series to make it blend well with the décor of the room. The gray Touch of Color adds a sophisticated look and of course the 1.1” depth makes it possible to wall mount the TV as the thinness makes it look like a pretty picture on the wall. Besides the external features, the picture quality is very good too, powered by the technological advancements in the TV.

You can’t but help getting excited with the Internet@TV and Samsung Apps. Even though there are numerous sites you can access on the TV today, the manufacturers are still making efforts to include further sites to make the experience still more interesting. We may soon see the integration of an Internet browser in the succeeding versions next year which will make the computer absolutely obsolete as far as browsing the web is concerned. In addition to providing widgets to help you access important sites like Pandora, Blockbuster, Twitter and YouTube, this TV also enables streaming content from the thumb drives and other computers in the home network with the help of ConnectShare and AllShare features.

You can’t imagine having anything other than 1080p resolution in this high-end model. Since good picture quality is the primary goal of the manufacturer, you can expect very sharp images with great clarity and crispness. And with a high dynamic contrast ratio of 7,000,000:1, the blacks are as dark as can be. Brightness is good and so is the color usage. Accordingly, the images look very natural and life like. In fact, there is very little you can find amiss in the images, which is further made better by the 120 Hz refresh rate. There is no blurring in the action-packed scenes.

Sound quality is good with SRS TheaterSound and 30W output. If you want still better effects, you may think of connecting another home theater system. With 4 HDMI, you have plenty of connectivity options. There are also 2 USB ports which can stream content from a digital camera and a thumb drive. And the PC input lets you use the big 46-inch screen as a computer monitor. There are plenty of features in this set and you will be very happy to use them to get a good performance. The price of $2,299.99 MSRP seems a reasonable one.
