LG 55LHX Review: 55″ LCD HDTV

Up for review: LG 55LHX LCD TV.  With a thickness of only 1 inch, LG joins the league of super-slim LCD panels with the launch of its new 55LHX model. The giant 55-inch LCD HDTV with its super-slim black bezel outlook is sure to catch the attention of the onlooker even when the LCD is not turned on. It seems LG wants to continue its ultra thin tradition started with the 47LGX, which was launched by the end of 2008.

This 55-inch flat-panel LCD boasts many high-end features. To begin with, it features LED backlight with local dimming technology. LED backlights have a reputation of producing crisper picture quality with improvised black level. Another recent technology used in the LG 55LHX is the 240Hz TruMotion refresh rate, which is twice as impressive as its earlier 120 Hz refresh rate. LG has incorporated a scanning backlight system that switches the backlight on and off very rapidly. A whopping 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio is most likely to deliver superior picture quality and seamless picture processing for Full HD 1080p content.

The wireless capability is one of the cooler new features of the LG 55LHX LCD model. The uncompressed wireless system, available with a separate media box allows Full HD 1080p transmission without any separate wires and cables. The base station will transmit those video signals to the panel itself through its proprietary 60 GHz radio and multi-element antenna array. It is also capable of uncompressed delivery of full 1080p video.

Slated to be available in Spring/Summer 2009 and prices will soon follow.

The LED backlight technology is an energy saving feature. Besides that, the new LCD has LG’s proprietary Intelligent Sensor which is most likely to improve the efficiency and automatically adjust the picture quality.

The new LG 55LHX 55-inch LCD HDTV has a variety of inputs and outputs including 4 HDMI inputs of V. 1.3 with Deep Color capable. Besides this, an additional USB 2.0 port is also there to access to digital music and photos.
