LG 26LV2500 Review: 26” LED LCD HDTV
Up for Review: LG 26LV2500 LED TV. This 26-inch LED TV model was previewed by LG along with the series of advanced LCD, LED, and plasma TV sets. But the model does not come with any of the advanced features like built in Wi-Fi, wireless internet connectivity, and the advanced app. It even does not provide users with better options to access a wide range of TV programs being aired on various TV channels. The manufacturer has included a set of basic functionalities of a traditional set suitable to watch only normal programs like news and weather.
It comes with a 720p resolution, which is not high enough to support the latest television programs being made with an original 1080p resolution and full HD support. The resolution seems almost basic, and suitable only for watching the normal shows viewed mainly to get information. You cannot use the TV set to watch some of your favorite movies and sitcoms, as these require video output of much better and digital quality.
Similar to the resolution and video quality, the model also offers a much lower refresh rate of 120 Hz. It is also basic and suitable only for watching the television programs that does not involve much fast scene movements. The lower refresh rate is also the reason for ruling out the option of keeping it in your kids’ room. They will immediately start complaining by being unable to watch their favorite sports and action scenes. You also cannot use the model to watch your entire collection of movies as the refresh rate will affect the viewing of action movies.
LG 26LV2500 Features and Specifications Review:
- LED Backlighting
- 10000000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio
- 720P Resolution
- 120 Hz Refresh Rate
- Picture Wizard II
- Intelligent Sensor
- Smart Energy Saving Options
- ENERGY STAR® Qualified
There are various options to connect compatible digital devices through the HDMI and USB ports. But the basic video and audio quality may not encourage you to watch your offline collection of images, video clips, movies and music. Your kids will not be able to play their favorite video games due to the lower refresh rate. It would have been more enjoyable to access the offline content on a TV screen offering a higher resolution and refresh rate. But a user gets various energy saving options to save the electricity bill.
The set also does not offer any traditional or wired options to access internet and thus limits the scope of enjoying a wide range of online streaming content. But as the model comes with only a 26-inch screen, it can be used as a spare or back up set at your home. You can use the TV set occasionally, when there are some problems with your main TV set featuring a larger screen size and better option. The set can also be considered for keeping in your office and watching news and weather related programs on rare occasions.
