Element ELDTW422 Review: 42” LCD HDTV
Up for Review: Element ELDTW422 LCD TV. When a festive season is round the corner, or a special occasion is going to be celebrated, then you might think of buying this TV as a grand gift. Priced at $429.00 MSRP, this set has all the features of a basic HDTV. But if you are thinking of buying it for your own living room, you may have second thoughts after having a look at its features. It is integrated with full HD resolution and of course has a 42-inch display, but there is not much more to look forward to. With only 60 Hz refresh rate, the TV fails to live up to the expectations of avid movie watchers. However, the price is good enough for a basic LCD set.
What will truly make you like this TV is the 42-inch screen for such a low price. You will love to watch your favorite programs on the big screen. If you connect the Blu-ray player or the camcorder, then you can also watch the movies and videos of your much-adored stars on the big screen. The movies can be enjoyed in full 1080p resolution which adds clarity and sharpness to the images. Thankfully, Element has not downgraded this set to have only 720p resolution. This would have hampered the picture quality on the 42-inch screen.

Element has not done justice to the refresh rate and has kept it at 60 Hz. This is not enough to eliminate the blurring which comes with the images, especially in the fast action sequences. The screen needs to be refreshed very fast to get clear pictures, which is not possible with 60 Hz. Although the price would have gone up a bit, but the 120 Hz refresh rate would have done wonders for the action movies, games and the sports action. However, there are other features to reduce the noise in the images like the 3D comb filter and digital noise reduction feature.
There are 3 HDMI in this set along with 2 composite video and 2 component video inputs. This gives you a number of options for connecting other gadgets to the TV. Models having 42-inch display size of the leading HDTV companies usually have more connectivity options but then you have to pay a higher price too. The audio quality is also not up to the mark with only 8W output power. You certainly cannot hear the voices and music clearly when your kids are playing in the room. You have to opt for a home theater system to help hear the sound clearly. On the whole, this TV is not too bad if you want an LCD set badly with a good screen size but low price.
