Coby TFTV1923 Review: 19” LCD HDTV

Up for Review: Coby TFTV1923 LCD TV. The Coby TFTV1923 is just perfect to be used as a computer monitor. The VGA PC interface enables this to happen. But the most important function of the Coby TFTV1923 is to show high definition images on the 19” display. This product has an attractive front panel design with a grayish-black exterior. The panel broadens out at the bottom and then curves downward into a sturdy stand to support the HDTV. The bezel is fairly thin thus making the screen look larger than 19 inches.

Although the Coby TFTV1923 is a small package, it includes dual NTSC/ATSC tuners to take hold of all free-to-air signals resulting in a crystal clear picture display. It is always DTV ready. There is also a HDMI digital connection for allowing high definition devices to be viewed on this HDTV. You can choose to connect a camcorder, a gaming console or a Blu-ray disc player and take advantage of high definition images on the TV.

Coby TFTV1923 Features and Specifications Review:

  • 19” display
  • DTV ready
  • VGA interface
  • 10W stereo speakers
  • Multi-language onscreen display
  • Electronic program guide support
  • V-chip parental control
  • Wall-mountable design

There are full-range stereo speakers which are a big draw in the audio department. Both the audio and the video are very well-developed and are big factors in the popularity of the Coby TFTV1923. The HDTV also provides for less noise in the TV with a 3D comb filter. The distortion-less picture will certainly make for better viewing. The contrast ratio is good but can be bettered for improved black levels.

There are many other features in the Coby TFTV1923 which go into making the pictures clear with no blurring. Besides this, there is the multi-language on-screen display. The various languages make it a favorite among non-English speaking countries. The navigation is also pretty easy and user-friendly. The remote provided with the HDTV is convenient to use with all the buttons in the right place. You can purchase this HDTV for small rooms or as a second TV in the house.

Bought this TV in January for my daughter’s room. It just went out completely. Won’t turn on at all and it’s out of warranty. I paid $175 for this paperweight. Buyer beware of the Coby brand.

Once bitten blame Coby twice bitten blame me. This company must have a problem with producing a reliable unit. We bought a 19″ unit over a year ago from Frys electronics and withing a few months it would not turn. Frys wouldn’t do anything about it and said if in warranty to send it back to New York(back East) where the company is from. We decided to bite it and toss it as with postage and all wasn’t worththetrouble. Frys had an add for a new 24 ” LCD and we went there and it was another COBY well for 159 I couldn’t pass it up so we bought the 2 year warranty and guess what. We have a TV that the picture looks like there is fire all over Red streaking. GOd, how does Frys keep buying from this manufacture. Lucky I have the warranty and it is better than the TV. I WILL NOT BUY FROM FRYS EVER AGAIN. Not even brand names not knowing where tey got them from.
